Wet morning at RSPB Dungeness withMandy

This morning Mandy and I left home at around 10.15 and drove to the RSPB site at Dungeness, the weather was not being kind to us, although, the rain eased off as we arrived soon after 11.30. We got our gear from the car and made our way via the visitor centre to the Firth Memorial Hide.

We stayed in the hide for just over an hour and recorded the following species during that time:

Carrion Crow
Dunnock
Magpie
Coot
Cormorant
Shovelor
Tufted Duck
Little Egret
Great Crested Grebe
Lapwing
Mallard
Teal
Blackbird
Herring Gull
Marsh Harrier (a good spot by Mandy with the binoculars)
Wigeon
Grey Heron
Lots of other gulls but my identification of gulls is poor at the best of times.

Hope to be going out on Sunday mornings again soon with Dave the PARUS MAJOR Kirby

  2. Hi Phil and Mandy.
Pleased you both enjoyed your trip to Dunge.Don't worry about the weather too much, there are plenty of places to get out of the bad weather, isn't there? Just wrap up, and go for it.
