Bough Beech and Sevenoaks Nature Reserve

Picked up Dave at 8.00am, went to fill up the car with diesel before I leave for Gorefield this afternoon as it is cheaper in this neck of the woods!

We arrived at Bough Beech, a biting wind was blowing straight at us and not much on show, what we did see was as follows:

Pochard
Grey Herons (10 at least in view)
Tufty Duck
Great Crested Grebe
Coot
Mallard
Canada Geese
Blue Tit
Cormorant

We thought we would give Sevenoaks Nature Reserve a quick once over as its on the doorstep of Bough Beech so we popped there for an hour and spotted the following:

Dunnock
Blue Tit
Great Tit
Wood Pigeon
Robin
Coot
Chaffinch
Teal
Wren
Siskin ( a nice female)
Canada Geese
Egyptian Geese
Mute Swans
Magpie
Gadwalls
Moorhen
Black Headed Gull
Herring Gull
Carrion Crow
Greylag Geese

Not a bad couple of hours really.

I am off to The Fens this afternoon to a friends for a week of birding, beer and curries, watch this space for photos.

Canada Goose making a noise!

 Pair of Gadwall

Robin

Tufted Ducked and his partner just diving under!

Canada Geese cleared for take-off

  1. A morning well spent with some nice sightings and photos. I also enjoyed the photos on the previous post and see you are enjoying the new lenses :)

Referring to your previous post, I seem fated with Scaups, there has been one at Draycote recently but can I find it?...No! The other year there was a Lesser Scaup there and I tried to find it on several occasions but no luck :(

Have fun in the Fens :)
