Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve on Bank Holiday Monday with Mandy

Today (Monday 31st) Mandy and I drove to the reserve at Sevenoaks for a couple of hours birding, our first spot was a Magpie in the car park, followed by Swifts, Swallows and House Martins soaring above us having a good feeding session. Blue Tits and Great Tits were spotted along with Carrion Crow and a lot of Coots and Mute Swans. Chiffchaff could be heard and I also spotted one a bit later on in the walk, this was followed by Mallards and Mandy hit her 1st spot of the day with a Robin! Moorhen was next then another good spot by Mandy, a Jay gave us a good showing, next was Blackbird and then we went into the small hide, its name I cannot recall and Mandys best spot of the day a Kingfisher or maybe two we were not sure! Wood Pigeon next followed by Wren which  was feeding youngsters we believe, and a lone Great Crested Grebe. Another Mandy spot arrived with a Grey Heron sitting within a bed of reeds, I must admit that I missed it with a scan I gave with the bins! Another spot by Mandy was a pair of Treecreepers(Treecrawlers) as she called them, I then could hear the distinct call of Goldcrest and we stood and watched and sure enough got a view of one which we think was also feeding young. Lapwing were making a nuisance of themselves by bombing the Egyptian Geese with its youngsters, Greylag Geese spotted and Canada Geese along with a few Cormorants, a lone Shelduck, and another good spot by Mandy of a Nuthatch and to end the couple of hours a lovely female Chaffinch.
